British girl, 19, drowns on popular Thailand beach resort Ko Chang

A Foreign Office spokesman said: "We are supporting the family of a British National who sadly died in Thailand on 14 August." Her death came one day after a German tourist drowned off the coast of the same island. Christoph Ralf Sigloch, 55, died after getting into difficulties in the sea off Khlong Phrao beach. Local media reported that he had entered the water to help his two sons after his wife became concerned that they had swum too far from shore. Both boys managed to swim back to the beach. Ko Chang, also known as Elephant Island, lies around 300 kilometres east of Bangkok in the Gulf of Thailand, near the Cambodian border. It is popular with tourists wanting to explore nature thanks to its rainforests, waterfalls and coral reefs. Thailand attracts 25 million travellers each year, including nearly one million Britons.  Explore Angkor Wat
